What is Fiverr and How Does it Work?

Fiverr is the world’s largest online marketplace for freelancers to join and market their skills on.

Services start at just $5 a pop (hence the name Fiverr) but freelancers are free to charge thousands of dollars for their work.

Fiverr’s marketplace is huge and you can find almost anything you can think of.

The platform is divided into mega categories such as:

  • Writing;
  • Translation;
  • Business;
  • Marketing;
  • Video;
  • Music;
  • Design;
  • Programming;

And each of these categories is further divided into dozens of relevant subcategories.

Fiverr Pro is a section of Fiverr where only 1% of all applicants get accepted.

It’s is the place where only the best freelancers have the privilege to market their services, often at ridiculous prices.

According to Fiverr, these freelancers are:

“trusted by the biggest brands”.

Finally Fiver has grown beyond being just a marketplace for freelancers.

They also offer:

  • Fiverr Learn where you can buy premium courses for as as little as $19;
  • Fiverr Elevate offers exclusive discounts for businesses at every stage;
  • AND CO supplies business software for reporting, time and expense tracking, creating proposals, contracting, invoicing.

Company Profile

  • Fiverr was founded by Micha Kaufman and Shai Wininger in 2010;
  • CEO is Micha Kaufman;
  • Fiverr headquarters are in Tel Aviv, Israel;
  • Stock ticker: FVRR;
  • Fiverr marketplace is active in 190+ countries;
  • “Gigs” start at five dollars, but freelancers are free to charge thousands for their services;
  • Many Fiverr freelancers report earning five- and six-figures on the platform.

You can clearly see there’s a ton of opportunities for you to make money on Fiverr.

But first you’ve got to become their affiliate!

How to Join Fiverr’s Affiliate Program?

It’s both easy and free to join and here are the steps.

6 Fiverr Affiliate Program Pros- These Features Make it Worth Promoting Fiverr

  • Homepage optimized for clicks and sales
  • Great support for their affiliates
  • Excellent commission structure
  • Many payment options for their affiliates
  • Deep linking available
  • Fiverr has no true competition

#1- Homepage Designed for Maximum Clicks and Sales

As a Fiverr affiliate, you will often send newbies to the homepage so they can perform maybe their first search ever in Fiverr’s internal search engine.

The good news is that Fiverr’s homepage is built to remove friction and get them rolling as quickly as possible.

It’s easy to sign up. It’s easy to start browsing.

Trust symbols are everywhere and there’s even a popup that gently and effectively nudges people to open a new Fiver account.

#2- A Plethora of Tools to Make Your Job Easier

Fiverr’s library of marketing material is enormous.

They give you a plethora of banners and creatives which you can filter by:

  • Names;
  • Brands;
  • Sizes:
  • Languages;
  • And file formats;

It’s one of the most comprehensive offerings I’ve ever seen an an affiliate and all free to use and optimized for conversions.

Note: it’s hard to see on the image, click to EXPAND (Open in new tab)!

#3- Deep Linking Available

What are deep links?

Deep linking is when you, instead of using a generic link to the homepage, link to specific Fiverr product you’re promoting.

This is extremely valuable because relevant deep links are much more effective than generic homepage links.

For example, it’s much faster that when I talk about freelance writing on my blog, I link to a freelance writer I often use;

than it is to link to homepage so you can then search Fiverr looking for that gig I was telling you about.

That’s be a waste of time for you, but with Fiverr’s deep linking, you go where you want to go right away.

#4- Excellent Commission Structure and Rates

Fiverr’s commission rates are excellent.

They offer four commission plans, CPA and Hybrid.

#1- Revenue Share Model

With this model, you get paid for every purchase your referral makes any time. It could be now or in 5 years, you still get a cut.

As for how much, well, Fiverr takes 20% commission for themselves off every sale and you get 20% of that.

So on a sale worth $100 Fiverr takes a $20 cut and you get 20% which is $4.

I think the revenue share model is not worth it for most marketers. You’d need to make a ton of sales to see any significant money.

#2- CPA Model

This is a dynamic system where you get anywhere from $15 to $50 CPA for first-time buyers

The reason you don’t always get $15, or $50 CPA is because earnings depend on the service subcategory.

For example:

  • Whiteboard and explainer videos – you get $50
  • WordPress – $40
  • Blog posts and articles- you get $25
  • Copywriting services – you get $30
  • Everything else – you get $15

#3- Hybrid Model

Under his model you get a fixed $10 CPA for all FTB (first time buyers) +10% revenue share from the order value of every purchase the user makes for 12 months.

This means you’ll get instant reward for your effort + passive income trickling in over from their further purchases.

Note: Other sections of Fiverr also offer lucrative rewards for affiliates

You’ll earn:

  • $150 for Fiverr Pro,
  • 30% for Fiverr Learn,
  • 30% for AND CO transactions.

#4- Sub-Affiliate Model

The sub-affiliate model works great if you intend to mostly refer affiliates to Fiverr associate program.

With this model, you get paid 10% of their affiliate’s earnings.

#5- Many Payment Options

Payments are made upon your request and only after you’ve accumulated at least $100 in your account.

Affiliates have several payment options.

You can receive money via Payoneer, PayPal, or your bank account (wire/ACH transfer).

#6- No Real Competition

Fiverr is a clear market leader today. It’s dominance, variety and quality of service, and the fact that they’re still growing makes it a superb choice for affiliates to promote.

Plus it has no real competitors.

Closest to Fiverr in size and market share is Upwork.

But, Upwork targets a different user group, has a much more narrow scope and don’t have an affiliate program.

For now and foreseeable future Fiverr is the leader and promoting them long term is a safe bet.

3 Fiverr Affiliate Program Cons- Nothing’s Ever Perfect In This World:(

My Fiverr affiliate program review wouldn’t be complete without a thorough cons section.

Find it below.

  • Commissions for first time buyers only
  • $100 payment threshold is a bit high
  • Commissions are capped at $150 max

#1- Commissions for First Time Buyers Only

Under Fiverr’s CPA model you get commissions only for referring folks who’ve never been to Fiverr before.

So, even if they have an old account they never used, you still won’t be paid because they’re not a first time buyer.

This is remedied a bit by their Hybrid commission model, which gives you a fixed $10 CPA plus 10% on all other purchases your referrals make in the next 12 months.

#2- Affiliate Payment Threshold is Pretty Steep

As a Fiverr affiliate, you only get paid after you’ve earned $100+ dollars.

Not a big deal, but the gold standard in the affiliate marketing industry is $50, or less!

#3- Commissions are Capped

The most lucrative of all Fiverr’s programs is Fiver Pro, which gives $150 commission per gig.

$150 per sale seems like it’s a lot but some Fiverr’s Pro gigs cost thousands of $$$ so, for example, 10% commission would be a much more lucrative option for affiliates.

How to Use Fiverr for Affiliate Marketing- 4 Tips for Making $3000+ as a Fiverr Partner

Here are 5 best ways to use Fiverr for affiliate marketing.

Do them all and watch your commission roll in.

#1- Create a Mega List of Gigs You’ve Used for Your Business

If you’re a regular on Fiverr and have purchased a lot of gigs, you can get some of that money back.

By creating a mega guide and resource bundle where you’ll list all services you’ve used in the past.

It’s easy!

Create a listicle-type article and list out your favorite gigs. Under each there should be a short description of the gig plus your affiliate link.

Don’t forget those! 😀

#2- Deep Link Like Your Life Depends on it

Deep links work.

They’re relevant.

They’re helpful.

And they can make you sales while you sleep.

Deep link like your life depends on it and know you’re doing your readers a favor. Because they want and need solutions to their burning problems as fast as possible.

And maybe some Fiverr gig is exactly what they need.

How to Create Deep Link On Fiverr Affiliate Platform?

It’s easy, log in to your account.

On the left sidebar click on “Marketing tools>default and deep links”.

Next, get the URL of the gig you want to promote. For this example, I’ll use this freelancer who recently gave me a Fiverr-built dropshipping store.

Finally, click on the LP button in the top right corner. Add in your link and press “enter”.

Now your deep links have been created and all you have to do is copy the link based on which commission model you want.

#3- Write a Fiverr Review

People who’re searching for “Fiverr review” in Google are already thinking of buying and just need to validate their idea by reading an honest  review.

There’s no reason why that can’t be your honest review.

And no, “I’m so lazy” is not reason enough for me 🙂

It’s all about search intent, and I want you to think about this for a moment.

People who’re search for “Fiverr review” are people who never used it before i.e. first time buyers.

They’re perfect candidates for clicking on your affiliate links;

And if you need a Fiverr review example, just Google it and read a few top results to get your creative juices flowing.

#4- Focus on Promoting Fiverr Pro

Fiverr Pro is a special brand of Fiverr where only 1% of freelancers are admitted. The service there is super amazing and prices are just as high.

For every Fiverr Pro gig you sell, you make $150.

That’s a lot, especially if you’re not yet a seasoned marketer who scoffs at paltry sums such as these. I remember when I was starting out, $150 per sale seemed incredible to me.

Not so much 😎

I suggest that if you’re in a hurry to make money (who isn’t) you promote mostly from Fiverr Pro.

#5- Promote On Quora

Quora is the largest QNA site in the world. And one brimming with people asking all sorts of questions about Fiverr and their associate’s program.

question about Fiverr affiliate platform on Quora

As a marketer, you can take advantage of that.

Find questions people have about Fiverr affiliate program, create a list and get cracking answering those. And within every answer link a couple of times to your Fiverr affiliate program review, or to your Fiverr review.

It works!

Just remember not to post affiliate links on Quora. It’s forbidden!

Fiverr referral program- earn by recommending Fiverr to others!

The crucial thing you must know about Fiverr’s referral program is that you don’t get paid money to your bank account, Payoneer card or PayPal.

Instead, you receive Fiverr credits which you can then spend on the platform when purchasing your next gig.
