So you bought Fusebox Podcast Player?
Congratulations!
But now what?
Yes, you sort of know how to set it up, but would still like to read a quick tutorial to show you the ropes.
Then welcome to my page, which is going to do exactly that.
You’re going to learn how to set up BOTH Fusebox Smart Podcast Player and Fusebox Transcript plugin.
Without further ado, let’s get started!
How to Set Up Fusebox Smart Podcast Player WordPress Plugin
First things first, you need to download the plugin from your SPP dashboard.
You’ve bough the premium version, right?
Good, then go and log into your account and download the plugin.
Then head over to your WP dashboard and click on Plugins>Add New.
Take the zip download file and paste if into the “Upload” section.
That’s it. Once the plugin is downloaded install and activate it.
Now let’s go the the Fusebox Player back-end.
Click on the Settings>Fusebox Player. The first thing you’ll see is that you need to enter your license key in order to fully activate the plugin.
Find your license key in the download section of your FPP account
And just copy/paste it here.
Now all options are activated and let’s explore them one by one, shall we?
#1- Player Defaults
- Podcast RSS Feed URL– Find the correct RSS feed and input it here. The easiest way to find it is to ask your podcast host. You can also use Listen Notes, which is a podcast search engine. Learn more here.
- Subscription URL’s– add in URL’s to services where people can subscribe to your podcast. to learn how to find those URL’s, click here.
- Include Subscription Option in Track Players– Set it to yes.
- Show Name For The Full Player- Add in your podcast’s name so it shows up in Full Player.
- Artist Name For The Full Player– Add in your podcast host’s name so it shows up in Full Player. That’ll probably be your name 🙂
Next you have some design settings to tinker with
You can change things like:
- Theme Style- dark or light;
- Highlight Color
- Full Player Background- default or blurred logo;
- Track Player Background- default, blurred logo or color;
- Track Player Image URL- Add an image of your brand to show up on every track player.
Next we have:
- Sort Order- Decide how should your episodes be sorted. Newest to oldest? Or reverse?
- Download- Set it to yes. You want people to be able to download your episodes.
- Episode Limit- Impose a limit on how many episodes can be show in the Full Player.
- Show Tags- set it to YES.
- Volume- Set it to YES. You want users to be able to adjust volume so it’s comfortable for them to listen.
#2- Featured Button
This is the button that enables people to subscribe to your list.
First, enable it.
Then set up how the button will look. If you don’t now how, read my how to make a button in WordPress guide for more info.
Finally, enter the HTML that you’ll get from your email service provider. Remember when people click on that button a pop-up will appear for them to subscribe to your newsletter.
Note- Learn here how to properly integrate Fusebox with your email service provider).
#3- Sticky Player
Site wide Sticky Player helps you promote your podcast to all visitors anywhere on your site. It’s site-wide and it’s “sticky” meaning it never disappears from the screen.
- Position- Bottom or top. My preference is bottom because human eye naturally travels from top to bottom.
- RSS Feed URL- Add you feed URL here, the same as with Full Player.
- Episode- You can set to display either the latest episode, or some particularly important one.
- Show Name- Add your podcast’s name
- Highlight color- pick something that matches your brand colors
- Download- YES
- Image URL- add you logo here
- Style- light or dark
- Social- add social sharing options (Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, LinkedIn and Email)
- Excluded Pages- Add pages where sticky player should NOT appear. For example, your Privacy Policy is a good candidate.
#4- Timestamps
Here you can set up timestamps for your podcast episodes.
And… I’ve decide not to cover it here because it’s better to read this official guide directly from Fusebox
Finally there is the “Advanced” tab which I will not cover. It’s because it’s best to leave those settings alone, especially if you’re just starting out with this podcast player.
How To Set Up Fusebox Transcript WordPress Plugin?
Go to Settings>Fusebox Transcript and the first thing you need to do is get the license key
The good news is that it’s the same key you used to unlock Fusebox Player. So just copy that key and paste it into the designated field, and then save.
Now, let’s review the optimal settings for this WordPress plugin.
- Transcript Header Text- The name of your transcript. I suggest you leave it as “Transcript”.
- Header Color- choose a color that matches your brand colors.
- Display Download Button- YES.
- Display “Powered By”- that’s up to you if you want to give credit to Fusebox.
- Text and Color Styles- Fusebox Transcript.
- Post Types- default setting is great, so don’t touch a thing here.
#2- Downloads
- Show Logo URL- this is URL of the logo set to be displayed in downloadable PDFs.
- Show Title- this is title of the show set to be displayed in downloadable PDFs.
- Multiple Podcasts- if you have multiple podcasts, add them here.
#3- Email Campaigns
Just like with Fusebox Player, you can also use Fusebox Transcripts to get new leads and subscribers.
First enable this feature by choosing your email service.
Options are:
- ConvertKit;
- MailChimp;
- Active Campaign.
Then set up your CTA and integrate it with your email service provider.
#4- Rev Integration
Rev is a professional transcription service that you can hook up with Fusbox Transcripts so that it shows your podcast transcriptions within your blog posts.
To do it, you need to subscribe to their service and get the API key which you can input here.
#5- Temi Integration
Temi is also a professional transcription service you can connect with Fusbox Transcript so that it displays automatic transcripts inside your blog posts.
To do it, you need to subscribe to their service and get the API key which you can input here.
And that’s it!
Easy, no?
Let’s conclude this bad boy…
