This coin features Sacagawea and her baby on the front (obverse) and an eagle in flight on the back (reverse).
2000-D Sacagawea Dollar coin is made from an alloy of copper, zinc, manganese and nickel.
The exact composition of this coin is 88.5% copper, 6% zinc, 3.5% manganese, and 2% nickel.

Note: 2000-D Sacagawea Dollar coins are very common and they aren’t rare a all.
The Denver Mint struck 518,916,000 Sacagawea dollars in 2000 and it was 40.3% of the total mintage for that year.
In later years this number significantly dropped. For example, just a year later (2001) Denver Mint produced only 80 million D Sacagaweas and just 3,73 million in 2002.
That’s a 99.3% decrease in just two years!

What is the Value and Worth of Individual 2000 D Sacagawea Dollar Coins? Have Any Been Auctioned off for a lot of Money?
Most 2000-D Sacagawea dollars are worth their $1 face value or a little more above it.
However, pristine, certified examples in top condition and specific rare varieties like the Millennium Set Sacagawea and VIP Presentation Sacagawea are worth much more.
Note: the 2000-D Sacagawea Millennium Set is a special, limited-edition collection from the U.S. Mint containing a unique, burnished finish Sacagawea dollar, an uncirculated Silver Eagle, and a special $1 currency note, all released to mark the new millennium.
The Sacagawea dollar within this set features a distinctive satin/proof-like appearance due to special polishing not found on regular circulation coins.
Today, these sets sell for between $80 and $100.
The VIP presentation Sacagawea dollars are extremely rare, specially-struck coins produced for “First Strike” ceremonies at the U.S. Mints in Philadelphia and Denver in late 1999 and early 2000.
These coins were struck using medal presses with higher pressure and specially prepared, polished dies and planchets, resulting in a distinct satin-like finish and sharper detail than regular circulation coins.
VIP Presentation 2000-D Sacagawea Dollar coins were given as mementos to dignitaries, numismatists, and invited guests who attended the special “first strike” events.
Only around 120 of the Denver (“D”) mint VIP strikes were produced, and nowadays each of these coins is extremely valuable.
For example, coin dealer Rick Snow recently listed a genuine VIP Presentation 2000-D Sacagawea Dollar on eBay for $13,000.

No, there’s no 2000-D Sacagawea Dollars made of gold. Instead, all of the 2000-D Sacajawea coins were made from the standardized alloy of 88.5% copper, 6% zinc, 3.5% manganese, and 2% nickel.
There’re only two types of real gold Sacagawea Dollars. One type is the space-flown Sacagawea, and another is the 2025 24k-gold commemorative coin.
Denver Mint struck both types of these special coins.
