The exact composition of all Sacagawea Dollar coins (except gold and silver varieties) is 88.5% copper, 6% zinc, 3.5% manganese, and 2% nickel. This exact composition produces a coin color commonly labeled as “Golden Liberty”.

A handful of the most famous Sacagawea Dollar coin mint errors (and rare coins) are from the 2000-P Sacagawea Dollar mintage.

- Sacagawea/Quarter Mule). This is the most famous and valuable error, involving the Sacagawea obverse paired with a Washington Quarter reverse. It’s a a mix-up that created a unique, high-value collectible.
- Wounded Eagle / Speared Eagle. A die flaw (a raised line) intersecting the eagle’s body on the 2000-P Sacagawea Dollar coin’s reverse, making it look wounded or “speared”.
- Broad Strikes/Multiple Rims. The coin wasn’t held in the collar during striking, letting metal expand, creating extra rims.
- Struck-Through Errors. Debris (like grease or cloth) gets between the die and the planchet, leaving an impression.
- Off-Center Strikes: The die strikes the planchet off-center.

Goodacre Sacagawea Dollar coins are special, limited-edition 2000-P coins presented to sculptor Glenna Goodacre as part of her payment.
