The minimum investment for non-IRA, cash purchase is $50, 000.
Augusta Precious Metals specialize in facilitating precious metals IRAs – both 401(k) rollovers and IRA transfers. This company helps you in 3 ways.
First, they do 95% of the gold IRA paperwork together with you, with you being in full control at all times. Second, they act as a liaison between you and your custodian to help you in the setup of your gold IRA and storage facility accounts.
Third, they also help you find physical precious metals to purchase.
There’s much more to Augusta Precious Metals than this, so keep reading my review to find out if and how they can be of assistance to you.
Which Services Do Augusta Precious Metals Offer?
Augusta Precious Metals is a gold IRA company that helps you do gold IRA rollovers and acquire physical gold and silver bullion to stash in your home safe box.
I describe both of these services in detail right below.
1- Opening a Gold or Silver IRA Account
Augusta Precious Metals is one of the best gold IRA companies on the market.
They’ve been in business since 2012 and so far there are barely any customer complaints about them (they hold a perfect A+ score on BBB).
You can open an account with APM and they will help you establish your precious metals IRA and diversify your retirement portfolio in a safe and secure way.
“Safe and secure way” means they’ll help educate you about the precious metals markets and the common risk factors that most investors face – all through a free web conference with their director of education, Devlyn Steele.
Devlyn will answer your questions, guide you through the process, and ensure you have the tools necessary so that you can make the best decision for your unique circumstances.
Once you’ve decided to invest in a gold IRA, Augusta will do 95% of the paperwork with you making it very easy for you to understand what’s going on;
They’ll also help you do a 401 (k) rollover if that’s the way you picked to fund your gold IRA…
Basically, to open a gold IRA account with Augusta Precious Metals all you’ll need to do is educate yourself, decide that investing in gold backed investments is right for your financial circumstances and then actively work with Augusta while the company gets things ready for you.
2- Gold and Silver Cash Purchases
Augusta Precious Metals also sells gold and silver bullion outside of IRAs. This option lets you take possession of physical gold and silver and store it in your home safe box.
This option is valuable to investors and savers who want to keep their gold and silver bullion in their homes and closer to them (note: click here to see the products Augusta stocks at the moment).
Here are the benefits you’ll get if you buy gold and silver outside of your IRA and from Augusta Precious Metals:
- Ensured shipping and transit for the precious metals you ordered (you only take responsibility for your metals after you sign for them upon delivery).
- Private, free and secure delivery (even the delivery driver doesn’t know they’re delivering your bullion).
- All of the benefits of buying gold and silver as alternative assets.
- Lifetime access to Augusta’s gold and silver professionals.
Note: As an Augusta Precious Metals customer, you’re entitled to account lifetime support from their helpful staff.
Your ongoing support from Augusta Precious Metals consists of:
- Answering basic questions to help you with any concerns you have regarding gold and silver.

- Scheduling one-on-one web meetings to give you valuable insights into the economy and precious metals market.

Augusta Precious Metals Cons (Complaints)
Complaint 1- High Minimum Investment
You need to invest at least $50 000 when buying gold from Augusta Precious Metals. $50 000 is the minimum for both IRA and non-IRA cash purchases.
Arguably, this is a lot of money for most people but that’s a part of Augusta’s strategy as their ideal client has at least $50 000 to invest in precious metals.
Complaint 2- There is no Pricing of Products on Their Website
Augusta Precious Metals don’t show the prices of the items they stock live on their website. This is probably because the daily spot prices of gold and silver fluctuate and so Augusta’s prices vary by the day.
You will only learn how much something costs after you get in touch with them and after they assign an agent to you.
Complaint 3- You Can’t Purchase Platinum and Palladium With Augusta Precious Metals
Augusta Precious Metals don’t stock and sell platinum and palladium products.
Complaint 4- Limited Payment Options
Augusta Precious Metals gives you limited payment options to invest in gold and silver with them.
You can only pay for your bullion with bank wire and personal check. Bank wires may be for any amount. Checks can be for any amount up to $50,000.
Complaint 5- Not an Online Gold Dealer
Augusta Precious Metals are a gold dealer, but they’re not an online gold dealer. This means you can’t order gold/silver coins and bars from them without first talking to their representative.
You also can’t order bullion worth less than $50 000, which makes Augusta a poor choice if you just want to purchase a few gold coins to gift them to someone.

What about Augusta Precious Metals’ Negative and Bad Customer Reviews? Do They Exist?
Negative and bad reviews about Augusta Precious Metals exist, but I purposefully didn’t include them here.
Why?
Because a large chunk of them are fake reviews posted to harm Augusta’s reputation.
I’m not saying all of these bad reviews are fake, but it’s impossible to discern which negative reviews are real and which are fake, so I played it safe by including only positive testimonials here.
You can click here to read about the common complaints about Augusta Precious Metals you need to be aware of to truly make up your mind.
Pro tip: you can type queries in Google and Bing like “Augusta Precious Metals negative reviews” “Augusta Precious Metals negative review” or “Augusta Precious Metals bad review” “Augusta Precious Metals bad reviews” “Augusta Precious Metals complaints review” to find that kind of info; just be aware that the content you’re reading could very well be fake, AI-generated and definitely inaccurate.

This level of dedication to both existing and potential customers is what makes Augusta one of the best gold IRA companies in the US.
Sometimes, even the CEO of the company chimes in with his contribution.
In the example below, you can see the first comment was posted roughly 7 years ago, and Isaac Nuriani responded. And the second comment along with Isaac’s reply was posted in 2024, which is much closer to the present.
Augusta Precious Metals Lawsuits
While doing my research for this review I found zero lawsuits Augusta Precious Metals were involved in.
Given APM’s longstanding presence as an industry leader, it’d be no surprise that they’ve been involved in some legal proceedings over the years.
However, zero lawsuits happened so far which is admirable to say the least.
And even if there was an occasional lawsuit filed against Augusta Precious Metals this would not indicate any serious issue, especially given the company’s proven track record of excellence.
When evaluating a potential gold IRA partner, you must consider the company’s long-term performance and overwhelming positives.
By these criteria, Augusta Precious Metals stands tall as a trusted leader renowned for ethics and customer satisfaction.

Hi Nikola,
I found your Augusta Precious Metals review very informative. It reassured me that Augusta is a legitimate company with excellent customer support with a strong focus on education. The detailed explanation of their services, fees, and the overall account setup process was helpful. The pros and cons section provided a balanced view, and I appreciated learning about their commitment to account lifetime support and the possibility of gold buybacks. Overall, it seems like a reliable choice for investing in a gold IRA. I might consider it.
Hi Nikola,
you say there are no lawsuits filed against Augusta Precious Metals but I Googled it and found a lawsuits between Augusta and Red Rock Secured?
What’s up with that?
Hi Robert,
that lawsuit was not someone or a customer suing Augusta Precious Metals, but Augusta suing Red Rock Secured over some business matter. The lawsuit I found on Casetext doesn’t say much, but the case was closed in 2019.
Augusta Precious Metals seems like a legit company with excellent ratings and reviews online. Is it true they’ve never been sued by an angry customer or anyone else?
Hi Harpreet,
it’s true that at the time I wrote my review there were no active or settled lawsuits against Augusta Precious Metals. I can’t tell you what’s going to happen in the future, but APM is a legitimate gold IRA provider. They’ve served hundreds if not thousands of happy customers already.
The employees at Augusta Precious Metals were very supportive in assisting me with deciding to invest in precious metals. They took the time to address all the questions I had without pressure, demonstrating expertise in the gold investing area. Based on the helpful guidance they provided to me I feel certain that I made the right choice with company.
Hi Olabunmi,
thank you for leaving your review of APM here on my blog. I’m glad you had a positive experience with this legit gold IRA company.
Hi Nikola,
quick question for you. Can I buy gold from Augusta and put it in my home safe? I don’t trust depositories that much…
Hi Ramon,
good question. If you open a gold IRA account with Augusta you’ll need to store your gold with a trusted depository that Augusta recommend. But if you buy physical gold coins outside of your IRA then you can store that bullion anywhere you want.
I’m an ex customer of Augusta Precious Metals. They provided excellent information about the procedures and costs of establishing a Self-Directed Precious Metals account. I found their clarification of the purchase price, buyback price, and spread particularly useful. And these are the information I couldn’t find on their website.
Hi,
thank you for leaving your honest review. Glad to hear you’ve had a pleasurable experience with Augusta Precious Metals.
