They’re the first entirely 21st century generation. Their parents are Millennials, they siblings are Gen Zs and they’re the first completely digitally-native generation.
But, is Gen Alpha really getting the education they need? Or are they not? How’s their schooling progressing and will this generation end up being the most educated one out of them all?

A recent survey (I link to this survey in the footer of my article) of Gen Alpha parents showed that a whopping 85% of Gen Alpha children have access to their own tablets at home.

Generation Alpha children are highly proficient and tech savvy. After all, they’re the first digitally-native generation and using digital tools and devices is like using their hands to them.

What is the Dominant Learning Style of Generation Alpha?
The dominant learning style of Generation Alpha is considered to be visual learning, primarily due to their extensive exposure to technology and comfort with digital interfaces, leading them to prefer learning through videos, images, and interactive visuals over other learning aides.
A surprising percentage of this new generation are hybrid learners, meaning they combine learning styles for maximum results.
This is something rarely seen with other generations whose members usually stick to one preferred learning method.
As a Teacher, how to Educate Generation Alpha Children?
As a teacher you can use multiple strategies to engage, entertain and educate your Gen Alpha pupils.
For example, you can create immersive learning experiences that blend digital and hands-on activities. Use augmented reality apps to explore historical sites while having students create physical models or artwork, satisfying both their digital native instincts and need for tangible engagement.
You can also let your students choose between creating videos, podcasts, digital presentations, or traditional written work, acknowledging their comfort with technology while ensuring they’re also developing diverse communication skills.
You can also foster collaborative problem-solving by setting up cross-cultural virtual partnerships with classrooms around the world, where students can work together on shared projects using digital tools they’re familiar with, while developing crucial critical thinking, social and emotional skills through real human connections.
Basically, be creative and don’t be afraid to experiment. You’ll be surprised as to which activities your Gen Alpha students respond to positively.
Will Generation Alpha Children go on to Obtain Higher Education After Graduating From High School?
Yes, some (but not all) of Alpha children will go on to colleges, universities, community colleges and vocational and technical schools.
Whether a Gen Alpha child decides to pursue higher education depends entirely on said individual. Those who love to learn and can afford further schooling will continue their education. Those who don’t like to learn or can’t afford- won’t.

There are growing concerns about potential learning issues within Generation Alpha, primarily linked to their extensive exposure to technology, which can potentially impact attention spans, social skills, and traditional learning methods.
However, the full extent of these issues is still being researched and debated given that this generation is still so young and hasn’t had the time to mature and develop.
