Goldco Direct, LLC has been involved in eight notable legal cases. The company initiated two lawsuits itself, one against a former employee for alleged defamation, which Goldco won, and a RICO lawsuit against Clackum in Alabama. Goldco also filed a residential eviction case against Marquis Jackson in Los Angeles.
On the other side, Goldco has faced several lawsuits. Patricia Clark sued the company in Florida in 2014, though the case was ultimately dismissed. Jodi Judson filed a lawsuit against Goldco in California in 2019, which remains pending. A labor-related lawsuit was brought by Borghi in Ventura, California, also still pending.
Additionally, RSUI Indemnity Company filed an insurance coverage dispute related to sexual harassment claims, resulting in a limited court stay.
Overall, Goldco’s legal history spans multiple states and covers a range of issues including labor disputes, defamation, insurance coverage, and organized crime allegations.
Goldco Lawsuits: Has Goldco Precious Metals Ever Been Sued?
Goldco is one of the best gold IRA companies operating on the US market. They’re a legitimate business that people rave about online.
However, Goldco has been involved in a handful of lawsuits so far, and I detail them below.
Lawsuit 1- Goldco Direct, LLC v. Wilson
Goldco Direct, LLC v. Wilson (2018-2021): this isn’t a lawsuit against Goldco. Instead, Goldco filed this lawsuit against a former employee and his wife, who allegedly created a website that defamed Goldco.
Goldco won this lawsuit and was awarded damages. You can find the court documents for this case on the Casetext website.
Lawsuit 2- GOLDCO DIRECT VS MARQUIS JACKSON
On July 6th, 2018, Goldco Direct initiated a residential eviction lawsuit against Marquis Jackson. This legal case was filed with the Los Angeles County Superior Courts, specifically at the Pasadena Courthouse located in Los Angeles, California.
The judge assigned to oversee this eviction case was Judge Annabelle G. Cortez. The current status of the case is that it has been disposed of, with a judgment having been entered.

Lawsuit 3- Patricia Clark Plaintiff vs. Goldco, LLC Defendant
Patricia Clark, the plaintiff, initiated a legal proceeding categorized as “Other” against Goldco, LLC, the defendant, on July 14, 2014. This lawsuit was filed in the Circuit Courts of Broward County, specifically at the Broward County Central Courthouse located in Broward, Florida. The case was overseen by Judge William W. Haury, Jr. Ultimately, the case reached a conclusion and was dismissed, resulting in a “Disposed – Dismissed” status.

Lawsuit 4- Jodi Judson v. Goldco Direct, LLC
On August 6, 2019, Jodi Judson, the plaintiff, initiated a legal proceeding categorized as “Other” against Goldco Direct, LLC, the defendant. This lawsuit was filed in the U.S. District Courts, specifically the California Central District Court. The case is being overseen by Judges Paul L. Abrams and Philip S. Gutierrez. Currently, the case status is listed as “Pending – Other Pending,” indicating that it is still ongoing and awaiting further developments or resolution.
Update. Class Counsel was awarded $500,000 in fees plus $28,068.89 in litigation costs. The lead plaintiff, Jodi Judson, received a $5,000 incentive award for representing the class. The court approved a payment of $55,000 to the settlement administrator, Angeion Group.Because the case was settled outside of a trial layout, Goldco Direct, LLC denied all liability and didn’t admit to any wrongdoing.

Lawsuit 5- RSUI INDEMNITY COMPANY v. GOLDCO, INC.
RSUI Indemnity Company filed a declaratory judgment action against Goldco, Inc. seeking determination that its insurance policy doesn’t cover certain sexual harassment claims. Goldco countered with a claim seeking declaration that the policy does provide coverage for these claims. Both parties jointly requested a stay of proceedings until the EEOC either issues Right to Sue letters or initiates a lawsuit, arguing this would help identify all potential claimants and claim values.
While the court acknowledged that district courts have discretion to grant stays pending related proceedings, it expressed skepticism about whether the stay was truly essential to resolve the central insurance coverage issue. Nevertheless, the court granted a limited stay until October 1, 2010, rather than an indefinite one. The court scheduled a follow-up conference for October 5, 2010, to ensure the case moves forward.
Update. The federal court temporarily halted the lawsuit to allow related administrative proceedings, specifically, the evaluation of the value and scope of the underlying sexual harassment claims, to be sorted out
The court expressed extreme reluctance to let the case “linger for an extended period”. When federal insurance coverage disputes are stayed like this, they almost always culminate in a private, out-of-court settlement agreement between the insurer and the insured rather than a formal court verdict.
Lawsuit 6- Borghi v Goldco Direct
In September 2019, a labor-related lawsuit was initiated by Borghi against Goldco Direct in Ventura, California. The case is currently still active in the Ventura Hall of Justice division of the Ventura County Superior Courts. The case status is Pending – Other Pending.

Lawsuit 7- Goldco Direct LLC v. Clackum et al
On January 6, 2018, Goldco Direct LLC initiated a RICO (Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act) lawsuit against Clackum in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Alabama. The case, which is being presided over by Judge Karon O Bowdre, currently remains pending.

Lawsuit 8- Summerton v. Goldco Direct LLC
Summerton v. Goldco Direct LLC is a $2 million class action settlement stemming from a lawsuit that accused the precious metals firm Goldco Direct LLC of violating the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA).
The plaintiff, Jan Summerton, alleged that Goldco sent multiple automated marketing text messages to individuals whose phone numbers were registered on the National Do-Not-Call Registry and who had explicitly asked the company to stop texting them. Goldco denied any wrongdoing or legal violations. They agreed to the $2 million payout solely to resolve the litigation and avoid ongoing court costs.
The lawsuit specifically targeted robotexts sent using the Call Loop texting software platform. U.S. District Judge William M. Conley granted final approval to the settlement on March 26, 2026. The deadline to opt-out or object was February 25, 2026, and the final deadline to submit a claim form passed on April 10, 2026. The settlement class covered an estimated 19,280 members. This breaks down to a gross average of roughly $103.73 per class member before legal fees and administrative deductions.
Goldco Lawsuit Guide (Conclusion)
Goldco isn’t a scam or a pyramid scheme just because they’ve been involved in a couple of lawsuits. Goldco is a legit gold IRA provider with years of experience in helping Americans diversify their portfolios with precious metals. Any successful business that has existed for years is bound to eventually attract a lawsuit or two. That’s just the nature of being a successful business.
