There’s barely a complaint on American Hartford Gold, and none of them is serious. And all of them have been resolved quickly and successfully.
Cons
- No platinum and palladium coins and bullion.
- A relative newcomer. American Hartford Gold started operating in the American market in 2015. As a gold IRA company, they’re far younger than some of their competitors on this list.
- No transparent pricing on their website. You have to contact their customer support to inquire about the pricing.
- No lifetime support
American Hartford Gold is an IRA investment company and precious metals dealer that can help you with portfolio diversification and securing your financial future by investing in gold and silver.
AHG allows you to buy physical precious metal coins and bars for cash and the minimum required investment is $5000. Or you can open a precious metals IRA with them and fill it with gold and silver coins and bars (American Hartford Gold sells IRA-approved bullion and coins).
My honest recommendation: American Hartford Gold are an excellent gold IRA company. I recommend them to those savers and investors who can’t afford the steep $50,000 minimum investment required by Augusta Precious Metals.
AHG offer excellent customer support. Their staff are friendly and will educate you on everything you must know when investing in gold and silver.

#3- Birch Gold Group (Best for New Investors and Savers)

- Name- Birch Gold Group;
- Date founded- 2003.
- Headquarters- Central Park Building 3500 West Olive Avenue, Suite 730 Burbank, CA United States of America
- CEO- Laith Alsarraf.
- BBB score- A+
- Types of precious metals- gold, silver, platinum and palladium.
Pros
- Palladium and platinum products are available. Nearly all gold IRA companies only sell gold/silver coins and bars, while BGG goes that extra mile.
- One of the oldest and largest gold IRA companies. 20+ years in the business and 13,000+ customers served. BGG is a proven precious metals IRA company.
- A+ rating on Better Business Bureau.
- 119+ reviews on TrustPilot with a 5-star average customer rating.
- AAA with the Business Consumer Alliance.
- Occasional promo offers where you can get up to $ 10,000 of free silver with qualified gold purchases
- Low barrier to entry. You can open a gold or silver IRA for only $10,000. Or you can buy precious metals for the same sum and have those coins and bars safely delivered to your home.
- No-fee buyback program available. If you need to urgently sell your silver and gold back to BGG, they will accept it without charging you a penalty. Of course, they have a small 5.5% spread, but that’s standard for all gold IRA companies and precious metals dealers.
Cons
- No rhodium products. BGG offers popular metals gold and silver along with palladium and platinum. But they don’t offer rhodium which is the most exquisite precious metal of the bunch.
- No transparent pricing on their website. You have to contact their support in order to inquire about their fees and pricing structure. That said, Birch Gold Group’s customer support was quick to respond once I sent them a message. It only took a few minutes and I was pleasantly surprised.
- No lifetime support
- Lower Trustpilot score. Only 3.7 stars based on 126 customer reviews.
My honest recommendation: Well-known figures like Ben Shapiro, Stephen K. Bannon, Dan Bongino, Ron Paul and many others endorse Birch Gold Group.
They’re also recognized as a top-rated precious metals company by Better Business Bureau, ConsumerAffairs, BCA, Trustpilot…
Birch Gold Group can help you if you’re looking to purchase precious metals for direct delivery or to open a gold IRA account.
They’re also the first IRA company in this guide to offer palladium and platinum products as the previous IRA companies don’t.

Or read my Birch Gold Group review here.
Birch Gold Group is a California-based brokerage firm that specializes in gold and other precious metals.
They’ve been active since 2003 helping Americans from all 50 states diversify their savings with precious metals IRAs as part of their portfolios. Birch Gold Group sells precious metals both as part of gold IRAs and for personal possession. They’re also a rare gold IRA company that offers palladium and platinum products.
When opening an account with Birch Gold Group customers can convert their existing retirement account, such as a 401(k), into a precious metals IRA or buy physical gold coins and gold bars for personal possession at home.
Birch Gold Group also focus on educating their potential customers. They don’t have one comprehensive PDF guide you can download.
Instead, they have a series of articles you can read one by one to really understand the value of investing in gold, silver and other precious metals that BGG stocks in their inventory.

#4- Noble Gold (Best for Exceptional Customer Service)

- Name- Noble Gold Investments;
- Date founded- 2017.
- Headquarters- 16830 Ventura Blvd Ste 326, Encino, CA 91436
- CEO– Collin Plume
- BBB score- A+
- Types of precious metals- gold, silver, platinum, palladium, rare (numismatic) coins.
Pros
- A+ score on BBB.
- Top scores on BCA, Trustlink, Trustpilot and ConsumerAffairs.
- Huge selection of precious metal coins and bullion.
- Palladium and platinum coins and bullion available.
- No additional fees.
- Free coin when you open an account with them.
- Excellent customer support.
- Strong focus on education.
Cons
- Young company. Not necessarily a con, but all other gold IRA companies on this list are 10+ years old.
- Fees not displayed on the website. You have to send them an email to learn of their pricing structure.
- Only U.S. storage. You can do business with Noble Gold if you’re from Canada, but your precious metals will be stored in one of the USA-based IRA-approved depositories.
- Slight use of scare tactics- on Noble Gold’s homepage it says “hedge against the inevitable with gold”. It’s true that it’s inevitable the economic situation will worsen sometime in the future (it can’t always be improving in perpetuity), their messaging implies it’s going to happen really soon so you better open a gold IRA account with them. It’s a minor nitpick but I’m mentioning it here regardless.
Noble Gold is a reputable gold IRA company. They’ve been servicing the US market for 8+ years, but the web is full of legitimate reviews from current and ex-customers.
They offer a full stack of precious metals for you to purchase. Besides a wide range of gold and silver coins and bars, Noble Gold also offers palladium and platinum bullion and coins. Noble Gold also sell rare, uncirculated coins and owning them is a matter of prestige among collectors.
My honest recommendation: I put Noble Gold IRA last on this list, but they are still in the group of the best gold investment companies in US for 2026.
Noble Gold are an excellent precious metals IRA company that you can trust to open a gold IRA account for you. They also sell rare coins so if you’re looking to enrich your collection they’re your best bet and the only gold IRA company on this list to stock numismatic coins.
Noble Gold has a small minimum investment of requirement of $2,000 for direct purchases of gold and silver, and $5,000 if you’re rolling over your 401(k) or IRA to gold.

What to Look for When Shopping for Gold IRA Companies?
Here are some of the criteria you need to consider when shopping for a gold IRA company. It’s a brief summary of my guidelines for the best gold IRA companies I explained above.
- BBB score. Companies with A or A+ BBB scores are more trustworthy, safer and provide excellent service.
- Ease of account setup. IRA companies that make account setup seamless are better, especially for new investors. Gold investment companies I recommended have easy account setup processes.
- Account setup fees. The best gold IRA companies either don’t charge annual account fees, or the fees are minimal.
- Spread amount– Companies with the lowest gold/silver spreads allow for cheaper buying of metals. Or you can buy higher quantities.
- Buyback policy. I removed companies without proper buyback policies.
- Website accessibility/responsiveness. Companies that don’t maintain good websites likely won’t provide good service.
Do Any Of These Gold Investment Companies Offer Bitcoin IRAs?
None of the gold investment companies I included in my article offer Bitcoin IRAs.
It’s harder for you as an investor to open a Bitcoin IRA compared to a gold IRA. There’re far fewer Bitcoin IRA firms on the USA market and you also need deep knowledge of bitcoins and cryptocurrencies to safely invest in Bitcoin as part of your IRA.
You can read my iTrustCapital review if you’re looking for an excellent Bitcoin IRA company.
Which of These Gold and Silver IRA Companies Sell Copper Products?
None of the gold IRA companies I listed sell copper products.
JM Bullion is the only precious metal dealer that I’m aware of that sells copper products. I didn’t cover JM Bullion in this post, but read my JM Bullion review to learn everything you should know about this company.

Which of These Gold IRA Companies Sell Rare Coins?
Noble Gold Investments is the only gold IRA company from my guide that offers rare coins you can buy to include in your collection. Numismatic coins aren’t IRA-approved and you can only buy them to store in your personal collection at home.

Which of These Gold Investment Firms Sell Diamonds?
None of the gold investment firms in my guide sell diamonds to investors and savers.
Diamonds aren’t IRA-approved and you can’t have them as part of your precious metals IRA.
Diamonds are regarded as a safe haven asset, so rest assured that if you own some they’ll retain most of their value even during recession and economic hard times.
Which of These Gold IRA Companies Offer Free Silver and Coins on Qualified Gold Purchases?
Only Birch Gold Group offers free silver coins on qualified gold purchases. They offer up to $10,000 in free silver on qualified gold purchases.

Which of These Gold IRA Companies Have the Lowest Minimum Investment Threshold?
The gold IRA company with the lowest minimum investment threshold is Noble Gold.
Noble Gold have a small minimum investment requirement $2,000 for direct purchases of gold and silver, and $5,000 if you’re rolling over your 401(k) or IRA to gold.
| Gold IRA Company | Minimal Threshold for Gold IRA Accounts | Minimal Investment Threshold for Non-IRA Gold and Silver Purchases |
|---|---|---|
| Augusta Precious Metals | $50 000 | $50 000 |
| American Hartford Gold | $5 000 | $10 000 |
| Birch Gold Group | $10 000 | $10 000 |
| Noble Gold | $2 000 | $20 000 |
Which of These Gold IRA Companies Have the Lowest Spreads and Buyback Policies?
Augusta Precious Metals’ spread is 5% on both common and premium products.
Next are American Hartford Gold whose spread spread percentage is quite large. Spread on bullion goes up to 19.99%. Spread on numismatic coins is 34.99%. The spread on semi-numismatic coins is 34.99%.
According to American Hartford Gold:
“However, these percentages vary, and the
actual Spread on any specific transaction may be outside the stated typical ranges.“
Next are Birch Gold Group. They don’t list their spread policy anywhere on the site. However, I was able to find that they charge $215.80 price premium per oz. over COMEX.
The price of gold was $1,944.90 on the day I wrote this best gold IRA firms guide. With a spread of $215.80 per oz I calculated that Birch Gold Group’s spread is ~11.3%.
Finally, we have Noble Gold for whom I was unable to find any data on the spread percentage they charge.
Here’s a calculation of how much it’d cost you to return the precious metals you bought and get your money back, sans the gold IRA company’s spread. For simplicity’s sake, we’ll calculate the value of one troy ounce to be $2000.
| Gold IRA Company | Spread | How Much You Get on Buyback |
|---|---|---|
| Augusta Precious Metals | 5% | $1900 |
| American Hartford Gold | 35% | $1300 |
| Birch Gold Group | 11% | $1780 |
| Noble Gold | / | / |
Which Company Offers the Best Gold IRA Kit?
Augusta Precious Metals offers the best gold IRA kit. It’s similar information you can get from gold IRA kits from other precious metals deals on this list. But, Augusta’s e-book comes with direct help from Devlyn Steele and also with lifetime support Augusta offers.

Which of These Gold Investment Companies Have Black Friday and Cyber Monday Deals This Year?
Three out of the four gold investment companies from my list don’t offer Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals and discounts.
The gold IRA businesses that don’t have special promotions during BFCM are Augusta Precious Metals, American Hartford Gold and Noble Gold.
The only IRA company which might have a Black Friday deal this year is Birch Gold Group.
Nothing’s announced yet, but last year they had a special BFCM discount where buyers would get one free gold bar for for every $10,000 spent on precious metals.
I’m not aware how many precious metals investors took advantage of this offer, but it’s the best one I could find.

Pro tip: APMEX regularly has Black Friday deals on their silver and gold products. However, there’re a lot of complaints about it too.
People complain on Reddit the offers are too small and the precious metals get grabbed away in a few minutes of the Black Friday/Cyber Monday deal going live.

Another complaint is that the website regularly crashes when attacked by mountains of traffic.

Do These Gold Investment Companies Operate in all US States? Am I Bared From Opening a Gold IRA if I’m From a Certain US State?
The gold investment companies I included in my guide work with people from all 50 US States. You’ll be able to open and fund your gold IRA no matter where you live.
The US states covered are Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Wyoming.

Which Gold IRA Company Ships Precious Metals Internationally?
From my list only Noble Gold cater to people outside of the US. However, they still don’t send the precious metals you bought. Instead, they store them in one of their depositories on the US territory.
