Plus, Quillbot makes sure that all these features are simple enough for anyone to use without needing prior knowledge in linguistics or computer science.

Free Plan Available (No Credit Card; No Signup Needed)
That’s right.
You can use Quillbot without signing up and opening an account. You also don’t need a credit card as there’s nothing to pay for and no “free trial” to activate (read my Quillbot free trial guide to learn more).
To start using Quillbot all you need to do is go to Quillbot.com and start paraphrasing.
With Quillbot free version you get:
- two paraphrasing modes (Standard and Fluency. You can paraphrase up to 150 words at once, But you can rewrite content all day long with no hard limits on free usage.).
- 1 freeze word- this tells Quillbot not to paraphrase it.

These are:

- Quillbot Yearly– $8.33 per month, or $99.95 billed once in 12-month period.
The monthly Quillbot plan is the most expensive and I recommend it only if you need Quillbot for one month and you know the free version won’t cut it.
A 6-month Quillbot plan gives you a 33% discount (Quillbot’s pricing is set up to reward you for long-term subscriptions), and is best suited for those who need Quillbot for a few months, but not for the whole year.

Simple to use (Intuitive UI and UX)
Quillbot’s dashboard is extremely easy to use and master.
On the left sidebar there’s a bunch of icons that are actually links to Quillbot’s apps, most of them free.
- Paraphraser (paid, but free mode available);
- Grammar Checker (free);
- Plagiarism checker (paid);
- Flow (free);
- Summarizer (free);
- Citation Generator (free);
- Translator (free).
Below it there are links:
- Install Quillbot on Google Chrome;
- Install Quilbot on Microsoft Word;
- Upgrade to a premium version of Quillbot;
- Get help from Quillbot;
- Quillbot Help Center.
In the middle, there’s a large content editor where you can manipulate content using Quillbot apps.
At the bottom of the editor, there are three buttons that let you fine-tune Quillbot tools, give feedback to the Quillbot team and see your Quillbot usage statistics.
And on the upper right, there are buttons to switch between different versions of the English language (American English, British English, Canadian English, and Australian English) turn on the dark mode and access your account’s details.
And that’s it!
Free Content Summarizer Available
Quillbot Summarizer is a free app within Quillbot that you can use to summarize large texts for your convenience.
I found a good usage for it when learning SEO.
For example, I come across a section of an SEO article that doesn’t particularly interest me (for example, JavaScript), but I still feel guilty to skip over it.
Then I paste the boring part into Quillbot Summarizer, and it tells me what I need to know while reducing the text length by 80% or more.
Quillbot Summarizer is a free tool, and you can use it as much as you want. There are two summarizing modes (paragraph and bullet point modes), and the only limit is that you can summarize up to 1200 words in at once.
Free Grammar Checker Available
Tired of paying for Grammarly?
If so, the good news is that Quillbot Grammar Checker is a free app within Quillbot you can use to check your texts for grammar and spelling mistakes.
You can use it as much as you want and the quality of the grammar check is on par with Grammarly Premium and other excellent online grammar checkers.
And it works similarly to Grammarly as well. As soon as you paste the text you want to check Quillbot will scan it and highlight all mistakes it found. Then you just need to go one by one and fix them all.
Note: just like Grammarly, Quillbot as a grammar checker is not perfect and that’s exactly the reason why you need to go error by error and use common sense when fixing.

Free Language Translator Available
Quillbot team is always introducing new tools to their toolset. The latest addition is Quillbot Language Translator which lets you translate content from English into 30+ different languages and vice versa.
As I said Quillbot Translator is free and you don’t need to sign up to use it. Just go to Quillbot.com and start using it today.
See below how I translated a few paragraphs (the limit is 5000 characters per one translation) in Spanish into fluent English.
Extensions for Chrome and Microsoft Word are Available
You can use Quillbot for free within Google Chrome and Microsoft Word.
This is extremely useful not to have to copy/paste the text into and from the Quillbot editor.
Huge timesaver and again, it’s free.

- Offer only two writing modes for free.
- OpenAI GPT AI writing is not available.
- Character limitation for free as well as paid plans.
- No AI Content Detection;
- Manual intervention is often needed.

Only Two Writing Modes for Free
Quillbot’s free account is excellent but could be better.
The two paraphrasing tools available are Standard and Fluency, the two most common paraphrasing modes that even free paraphrasing tools offer. It’d be great if one of the exquisite paraphrasing modes, for example, Creative, is free on the free version.
For example, here’s Paraphraser.io a free paraphrasing tool. And look, the tool offers Standard and Fluency paraphrasing modes for free.
No GPT AI Content
Quillbot uses its proprietary NLP and NLU tech to paraphrase and summarize the content. And it works well as Quillbot ranks among the best paraphrasing tools on the market.
However, Quillbot doesn’t use OpenAI GPT (Generative pre-trained transformer) technology to paraphrase the content.
And I think that’s a missed opportunity. It’d be great if you could paraphrase content with Quillbot and then if not satisfied with the output have the option to switch to GPT paraphrasing.

Character Limitations for Free and Paid Plans
Quillbot’s free account lets you paraphrase up to 150 words at once, as many times as you want.
Quillbot’s premium plans let you paraphrase texts of unlimited length.
The free account looks limited, but in fact, it’s not a disadvantage of using Quillbot because Quillbot’s paraphraser is not perfect and doesn’t work well with larger slices of content. Quillbot paraphraser works best when you rewrite paragraph by paragraph.
Quillbot Summarizer can summarize up to 1200 words at once, and up to 6000 words on a premium plan.
These are such large limits that you’ll probably even think about this disadvantage.
But, occasionally, you have mountains of text to summarize, way more than 6000 words, and then you have to split it into chunks
It’s a bit tedious for sure, but no other tool does it better. Remember that the longer the text, the more probable the tool will make logical and sentence structure mistakes.
So in practice, you’d want to go with shorter chunks.
Manual Paraphrasing Is (Often) Needed
I use Quillbot daily and it’s a wonderful tool for increasing writing speed and boosting productivity. However, it’s not perfect.
Quite often the output looks alright but feels off as if written by a chatbot or a robot (which it is).
Then I tell Quillbot to rewrite the first output several times like that until I can get something useful.
Honestly, often it feels easier to write it by myself especially since even a badly written Quillbot output can help me push through writer’s block and start writing with newfound creativity.
No AI Content Detection
Even though Google says AI content is fine, they actually despise it because it poses a huge threat to their cherished Google SERPS ecosystem.
That’s why they’re starting to add new guidelines to their EAT concept (EEAT) and that’s why they’re constantly releasing new Product Review and Helpflul Content Updates (HCU) updates.
You as a webmaster need to know what’s going on and you need to invest in a premium AI content detector (check out my list of the best AI content detectors here). Because Quillbot doesn’t have one and it is a definite con.
I use and recommend Originality.ai. They’re affordable, and nearly 100% accurate at detecting duplicate and AI content at scale.

No ChatGPT Style Bot to Converse With You
ChatGPT is a super useful tool and one every marketer needs to have it their toolbox.
And it’s possible to have a chatbot like ChatGPT but part of a different product.
For example, Writesonic have its Chatsonic which is like ChatGPT but connected to the internet and with no over-usage shortages.
Alas, Quillbot as a company is not using ChatGPT API and as such they can’t offer a chatbot.
